International Symposium on Animal Movement and Ecological Protection under Global Change
2023-11-30

The 2023 Tengchong Scientists Forum will be held in the Tengchong city in Southwest China's Yunnan province on December 1-2, aiming to pool scientific and technological ideas to drive innovation; to build an exchange platform to deepen scientific cooperation; to contribute our scientific strength to counter human challenges; and to carry forward the spirit of science to promote impartiality in innovation. The Forum was co-sponsored by the provincial government and the China Association for Science and Technology.

Global change can cause movement of wild animals, leading to a series of ecological and sociological problems. In one hand, barrier or disturbance to natural movement of animals would cause their local extinctions. In the other hand, movement of animals would increase the conflict between humans and animals, or may cause destruction to native ecosystems. Therefore, it is necessary to have a better management on movement of animals under global change, so as to minimize the human-animal conflicts, to protect endangered species, and to reduce animal damages to humans or ecosystems.

Within the Forum, International Society of Zoological Society, together with its partners, will hold an International Symposium on Animal Movement and Ecological Protection under Global Change (AMEP symposium). This symposium will focus on identifying the driving forces and consequences of movement of animals under global change, and proposing countermeasures on protection of endangered species, control of invasive species and zoonotic diseases.
